What went in with the doors

From the invoices

The invoices for the new-door jobs above list more than the door itself:

New tracks: Acton, Chelmsford, Belmont, Groton, Burlington, Brookline and Berlin.
New torsion springs: Sudbury, Acton, Chelmsford, Belmont, Pepperell, Groton and Burlington.
New openers: Acton, Belmont, Pepperell, Groton, Burlington, Brookline and Berlin. Compare the three we price.
Old doors taken away: Sudbury, Acton, Pepperell, North Andover, Groton, Brookline and Berlin. Haul-away is part of every Door Builder price.

Planning

Before you order

Replacing a standard-size door: Price it in the Door Builder, then photograph the opening from inside and outside. The tracks, the headroom above the door and your opener decide what else the job needs.
Attached garage or a room above it: Compare the insulated builds in the table above. Door insulation alone will not make a cold room warm: sealing and the rest of the garage matter too.
Odd size, custom wood or low headroom: Ask for a measured quote before anything is ordered. The opening and the clearance above it decide which door, track and opener will fit.

"I highly recommend Eric, we had him fix our garage door few months ago, recently we were having some issues with it. I called Eric on the weekend and he immediately answered the phone, and came within an hour to our place to fix it. I was extremely impressed about how responsive and thorough professional Eric is."

FAQs · Installation

Quick answers before you call.

How long does a new garage door installation take?

A standard 16x7 double door installation runs 4-6 hours. Single 9x7 doors take 3-4 hours. That includes old-door removal, new-door install, opener setup or transfer, spring tensioning, balance testing, and hauling away the old materials at no extra charge.

What's the best garage door for a Massachusetts home?

For an attached garage in a Massachusetts winter, an insulated steel door. The Amarr steel doors in the Door Builder come in 4 builds: single-layer steel, no insulation; double-layer steel, vinyl-backed polystyrene (R-6.64); triple-layer steel, polystyrene core (R-6.48 to R-9.05); and triple-layer steel, polyurethane core (R-13.35 to R-19.4). The higher the R-value, the warmer the garage, and an insulated door is quieter than a single-layer one. The builder also has carriage-house and modern styles; see them at garage doors (most are priced there; built-to-order lines are quoted) and we'll walk through the trade-offs during your estimate.

How much does a new garage door cost?

An Amarr single-car door (9' x 7') runs $1,678 to $8,080 installed and a double (16' x 7') runs $2,456 to $13,081, depending on the collection, insulation level, windows and hardware. Custom wood, Foundry Reserve and odd sizes are quoted in writing. Explore installed Amarr pricing in the builder at garage doors. General Doors designs are quoted in writing after availability, measurements and installation requirements are confirmed.

Do you remove and dispose of the old door?

Yes, it is included in every installed price. We disconnect the opener, dismantle the old door, tracks and hardware, and haul it all away. You won't have any cleanup to do.
